Berspacee sells handwoven rugs and textiles made by a women’s weaving cooperative in the Middle Atlas Mountains of Morocco. The cooperative, led by Fatima Falfouli, has been weaving in this region for many years; Berspacee is the registered Moroccan business through which its work is sold online, handling orders, payment, shipping and customer support. Berspacee was registered with the Direction Générale des Impôts on 9 June 2023 for the manual manufacture of rugs. Our rugs are handmade using traditional weaving techniques that have been passed down through generations within the local community. Each piece reflects the skills, traditions, and craftsmanship of the artisans who create it.
The Meaning Behind Berspacee
Our name, Berspacee, reflects the people and traditions that inspire our work.
The word "Ber" comes from Berber, also known as the Amazigh people, the Indigenous communities of North Africa who have preserved their culture, craftsmanship, and way of life for centuries.
The word "Spacee" represents the place where people gather, live, rest, and create memories. Traditionally, rugs have always been at the heart of Amazigh homes. Families would sit together on them, welcome guests, share meals, tell stories, and sleep on them. Rugs were not simply decorations—they were an essential part of everyday life.
Together, Berspacee means "the place of the Berber people"—a reflection of the homes, traditions, and communities that inspire every piece we create.

Our Story
History and Structure
The cooperative is led by Fatima Falfouli and provides training and work opportunities for women in the local community while helping preserve traditional weaving techniques.
The regional weaving craft practiced by Amazigh women has been preserved and passed down through generations. The rugs feature traditional motifs, symbols, and geometric patterns inspired by regional heritage and daily life.
How We Make Our Rugs
Production Process
Technique: Each Berspacee rug is handwoven by skilled artisans using traditional regional weaving methods.
Materials: Our rugs are handcrafted using natural sheep, goat, or camel wool sourced from local suppliers in Morocco.
Fiber Preparation: The wool is carefully washed, prepared, and spun into yarn by hand before the weaving process begins.
Dyeing: Depending on the design and the artisan's techniques, colors may be created using traditional natural ingredients such as henna, pomegranate, saffron, chamomile, olive leaves, and walnuts.
Weaving: Weaving is performed by hand on vertical looms using established regional practices.
Finishing the Rug
Production Time: Each rug is handcrafted over several weeks or months, depending on its size and design.
Finishing Process: Once the weaving is complete, each rug is carefully washed, finished by hand, and dried naturally outdoors before being inspected and prepared for shipment.
Product Characteristics: Because each product is handmade, slight variations in color, texture, pattern, and size are a natural part of traditional craftsmanship.
